On April 1st this year, Google China even published a Time Travel Engine as the April Fool’s Day joke.It claimed that people have to follow the instruction and finished a series of physical actions in order to get a chance to time travel. According to data from Google, 400,000 people experienced that engine on that day. It is a funny joke and it also shows the popularity of time travel stories in China right now.

Time Travel Stories Are Extremely Popular In China
Just an interesting fact that I would like to share with the class, time travel stories are extremely popular these days in China. Most of these time travel stories could also be considered as romance fictions, in which the main character (usually a female) traveled back in time for no reason and fall in love with someone famous in Chinese history, for example, a prince. (You Know China had a lot of princes in the past considering the Imperial society existed for almost 2000 years in Chinese history.) The main conflict in those stories would be that the female character knew the destiny of the man she loved but she couldn’t do anything about it because she couldn’t change the history. Other time travel fictions combined adventure elements are also very popular.
